You will waste alot of water by only washing small loads. It is always best to only wash full loads of clothes to try and reduce your water usage. If you have an older type washing machine, then you will benefit by having it replaced. The average washing machine that was built prior to 2011 uses about 40 gallons of water per load. However, new washing machines use about 15 gallons of water per load.
