If Spring represents the fresh start for so much else in your life, why not apply that thinking to your bathroom? And we don’t just mean cleaning - why not “refresh” your bathroom with a few minor improvements? Here are a few we’re suggesting that might just turn your tired old bathroom around (without breaking the bank).
Tiles are fairly inexpensive in modern times, making them ideal candidates to be a part of a quick spruce up. If you have no tiles at all, you could consider tiling over a small part of the bathroom, like the window sill. It sure beats having a worn out wood shelf there instead. But if you do have tiled walls, consider switching a few tiles out to make for new patterns. If you have a solid white tile wall, you would only need to swap out half for a whole new wall pattern!
Varnish the floor
Speaking of worn out wood in the bathroom, a wooden floor subjected to the amount of water and footfall a typical bathroom generates will wear out. But it is pretty cheap to get it back to looking it’s bes- try varnishing or painting it. It could look ten years younger!
Paint the walls
If you already have the paintbrush out for the floor, you may as well paint the walls too! As bathrooms don’t tend to be that big, it won’t take as long to paint the walls as it might do in other rooms. And we’re not even suggesting you buy new paint, as if you have some left over from when you first painted, just use the excess to give the room a touch up. Otherwise, check out what colour is popular right now and buy new paint accordingly.
Add Some Flowers
This may sound crazy, but hear us out: even if your flowers are fake, you should replace them. If you want the illusion of flowers without having real ones, you should still treat them like the real deal, just on an extended timescale. If you would naturally swap out flowers in the window once they have died, you should consider refreshing your fake ones once every 6 months. This will help them avoid becoming something more akin to an ornament.
Switch out light bulbs
This is a two fold good idea. Firstly, by switching out your light bulbs for a different wattage, you’ll be subtly changing the way the room looks without even realising it. Switching from a very bright, intense bulb utilised in the Winter for a softer bulb ready for the Spring/Summer, you’ll not only be taking advantage of the increase in natural light, but also changing the way you see the paint on the walls, the colour of the tiles, etc.. And it also makes economic sense - switching to energy efficient bulbs when you are using them less will help you save on your energy bills. Win - win!
